A page about Doy’s friends.
Yeah, I got some friends. My peeps…my homies…my crew.
And some of them I actually KNOW.
Design and Coder buddies…in no particular order…
- Brad Daily: we used to hang out every month in Canada, watching episodes of the office and eating pizza from Panago…yeah, but the point is he’s a coder. A really good one. And he helped build this. AND I will school him in Fantasy Football this year.
- Bryan Fordham: awesome programmer, Fark enthusiast, theology geek and creator of the Scooby Doo random mission statement generator. Yep, you read it right.
- Rachel Cotton: hugely talented illustrator who is working her way into becoming a geek, too.
Canadian Friends and Family…
- Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary: the little school that could. And with some of the most amazing sunrises on the planet.
- Canadian National Baptist Convention: the people here are awesome, especially my good friend Gerry Taillon, who is WAY more ADHD than I am and is in charge of the place.
- Nick Melazzo: a theology geek, music lover, concert buddy and kindred spirit. He says interesting things and leads a church plant in Calgary.
- Connie Cavanaugh: a GREAT family friend, encourager and writer. Her book From Faking It To Finding Grace is a must-read.
- CJSW 90.9 FM: “Radio on the left side of the dial.” I spent several splendid months working with this little college radio station. Made some great friends and found some great music.
- Lou Leventhal: a mentor, great friend and gifted entertainer. I got to film one of his tricks, and he’s threatened my life if I divulge said trick. And he knows Tae-Kwon Do.
- Bow Valley Baptist Church: awesome family of Christians in Cochrane, AB. If you live there, you must visit this place.
- Tapestry Church: I’m proud to say we got to be a part of this church start…awesome people with an awesome ministry. I keep saying “awesome.” What’s the deal with that?
Music sites…from which to listen and download music…
- E-Music.com: if you’re a fan of independent music, there really isn’t anything else for you but to subscribe here…and to tell them you were invited by me.
- Amazon.com: I’ve only recently used amazon for music. High bit rates, HUGE selection. Oh, they’re good.
- Muxtape: a grab bag of playlists from people you’ve never met…most likely, anyway.
- Pandora: best online radio service, bar none…or at least the best that I’ve used.
Musician friends…whom you should check out…
- James Tealy: A buddy of mine from N’awlins who is making really thoughtful pop music.
- Sara Beth Geohegan: Another friend from N’awlins…hugely talented singer/songwriter.
- Molly Williams: college friend who now sings backup for Wynona Judd when she’s not rockin’ her own praise and worship music.
- Paulette Wooten: another college friend who is making really interesting electronic praise music.
- Whispers and Megaphones: one of my oldest friends, James Staubes’ solo project is upbeat and personal rock music.
- Derek Webb: though I don’t know this guy personally, I think we’d totally get along. Writes some of the most challenging and thoughtful music I’ve heard. An independent thinker and artist.
Savannah/Richmond Hill linkage…
- The Creative Coast: these guys have some really cool ideas about bringing tech purveyors into the Savannah area.
- First Baptist Church, Richmond Hill: my home church…love those people.
- Southern Mamas: Anne Hart is the “mompreneur” behind this blog enterprise. If you are a mom in the Savannah area, why aren’t you reading this blog?
- Belles and Beaus Magazine: A magazine for families in the coastal region, run my frenetic friend, Christy Hyer.
There are a lot more friends to list, but I’ll get to it later. GEEZ!
