A month late and a bladder short

There aren’t many organs in the body that are subjected to the idea, “If it’s broke, just remove it.”

Where the gall bladder is concerned, however, this seems to be the conventional wisdom.

Today I’m recovering from the procedure, a day surgery that went surprisingly well, considering they used my torso as a pincushion for their instruments and such.

For the next couple of weeks I’m popping Tylenol 3 — a quite powerful substance, by the way — and reapplying bandages with the only tape we could find in the house, which was, luckily, masking tape. I knew we had a lot of duct tape lying around, but I couldn’t imagine…

So, here begins life without a gall bladder. I don’t feel any different.

Though something seems missing…
