Moving…
We are one week away from moving to Canada. It’s amazing to me that time has flown by so quickly. I’ve been so entrenched in finishing our fundraising drive that I haven’t posted near as much as I’ve wanted, and when I have posted, it seems like I was stretching to find anything else to talk about besides moving…or getting to Canada…or the 40-plus hour driving trip we’re about to try out on our two sons. I’m sure they’ll appreciate that time in the car, bonding with mommy and daddy…
Just in case, though, we’ve decided to purchase a car TV that will be suspended between the two front seats, where we’ll pre-record a full two or three days of Playhouse Disney for our sons viewing pleasure.
Pray for me…there are only so many Wiggles songs I can hear before I get a twitch in my left eye…
The Edge website
Well, we now have a working model of The Edge website: a site for the youth of Burkhalter Baptist Church. We have a lot of space holders at present, but there is some useful information on there. The markup was a lot of fun to put together and I learned a ton. Please let me know if the code is breaking in any browsers.
I don’t anticipate any of that, but keep your eyes open for me.
CSS-styled images
Dan Cedarholm over at SimpleBits has not only done a cool website redesign, but has redesigned Inc.com, using lightweight XHTML and CSS. Today’s SimpleBits has a cool tutorials on using CSS styles to affect the background of transparent gif images. Very cool idea that would make for a great way to easily change icon graphics on your site. Great idea!
More pictures coming…
I’ve scanned a ton of pictures of Caleb and Brendan and I am planning to post them soon (as soon as we can breathe, basically). Pray that we find our digital camera. I really want to have a running set of posts showing you our trip across the country. I’m really excited about that.
We have a friend that is getting AAA to tell us what cool places to visit on our way to Canada. I’m thinking we’ll see (possibly) Mount Rushmore, a little of the Badlands in South Dakota, a little of Yellowstone Park and maybe other places. I’m hoping we can get in some serious down time on the way. This year has often been bad for my health.
Site stuff…
You’ll notice the Tag Board back up on the site…and the absence of the (seemingly invisible and uninhabited) forums. I think the forums were a bit much for what I’m doing, but the TagBoard seems a little more user friendly and quick and easy. Let me know what you think, though. I want to have some kind of interactive part on the site, so I’d love to know what you think.
